NACDA Projects

WATER

The Awing community savored pipe borne water before the population of Santa town. Majority of people do not travel long distances to fetch water. There has been remarkable improvement in health of the population due to reliable portable water. NACDA is bent to extend water to all the homes.

This was the very first NACDA project started by the second President General of NACDA Pa Mathias Mbapeh Mbonlen and still continuing today by all the quarter development unions. As at today, about 63 percent of the village have access to pipe borne water. Our intentions are clear - to get everyone in the village access to pipe borne water. The quarter development unions have taken this challenge and are doing all they can to extend water to the various corners of their various quarters. Our intentions are clear - to get everyone in the village access to pipe borne water. ROADS AND BRIDGES

Roads remain to be Achilles hill to Awing. Despite efforts made by the State to fund its maintenance much is still desired. The choice of contractors is problematic and something has to be done. It should be underscored that three motor-able roads link Awing from the North West and West Regions. It is due the intervention of the road maintenance task force hired by the current NACDA team that people can circulate in Awing now. The services of the maintenance team have rendered the roads accessible from the village direction. Through the efforts of the Fon almost all the compound are accessible by vehicles.

As the saying goes "where a road passes, development follows". We have been involved in road construstion since the early 1940s. Awing has three motorable roads linking the village (Baminyam Road, Santa Road and the Lake Awing Road). These roads are passable all year round as NACDA has put in place a permanent Road Maintenance Crew. Our intentions are clear - to get everyone in the village access to pipe borne water. HEALTH

There is a sharp improvement in the health sector. Government has come to the rescue of the population and NACDA by creating two major health facilities in Awing marking the effective presence of the Fondom in the national health map. The Sub Divisional Hospital project is currently going on at Nelebe. Government action has been supported by some elite who equipped the Integrated Health Unit with beds and laboratory equipment. The tribulations of the past when patients used to die on the hills of estate and the lake are gradually giving way to history

EDUCATIONAL DEVELOPMENT PROJECTS

The number of scholars has    witnessed a dramatic rise in Awing due to the quantitative and qualitative number of educational institutions that exist both at the basic and secondary educational domains. For those who love numbers here are some for you, total 24  broken down as such; eight mission, one private nursery and fifteen government primary schools. As for the secondary, we have a GHS for general education, a Government technical college a private technical college and two private colleges.  A majority of these institutions are constructed and equipped by the Parent Teachers Association and NACDA who also hire PTA teachers. They are backed in their endeavors by some elite who have come up with prize award programs like APEX Advocacy Program for Excellence.
